Thai Bloom understood the essential impact of financial need for pets and people with nowhere else to turn. For this reason, we, Thai Bloom, continue to support DoveLewis, and are proud to be a part of their annual Wet Nose Soirée fundraising event to raise support for the critical care and programs DoveLewis provides to the Portland community. Thai Bloom Visits The Buddhist Temple of Oregon
For several years now, we have maintained a close relationship with Wat Buddha Oregon. The Temple offers a place of respite and spiritual instruction for many Thai Buddhists around Salem and Portland. The doors are also open to those looking to learn more about Buddhism and Thai culture. Many of our staff frequent the temple for various activities and gatherings they host throughout the year. We have helped with cooking fundraisers and other events hosted on their grounds. This year, many of these events were cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Inspired by Wat Buddha’s continual support of the Thai community in Oregon, Thai Bloom has donated $2,500 to support their work through the challenges this year has brought. We offer our gratitude to The Buddhist Temple of Oregon for their work during this time and are eager to see how they continue to care for our local Thai community.
Co-Founders Walter and Sayan visited Wat Buddha and paid respects to Ajahn.
Thai Bloom is supporting Hunger-Free Oregon
In a state as bounteous as Oregon, no one should go hungry. Thai Bloom is proud to support Hunger-Free Oregon in their vision and supports their upcoming campaign on April 14, 2020, and hope to make their vision of ending hunger come true for many Oregonians.
In a recent survey in Oregon, nearly half of students from PreK through college graduation do not have access to healthy food, every day. College students, especially non-traditional students, are having to choose between buying books or eating, which no one should ever have to choose between these two, and no children should never be worried about the status of their next meal. Let’s take a stand, and together, we can make a difference.
THAI BLOOM IS SUPPORTING NATIONAL MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS SOCIETY
Thai Bloom is roaring into the 20’s with their support of the 4th Annual Auction 2 Cure MS: Roaring 20’s Dinner & Auction on Saturday, June 20, 2020, at 6 o’clock in Beaverton! Auction 2 Cure MS raises money for the BikeMS event for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society’s Oregon Chapter. The MS Society in Portland supports local MS patients with education, seminars, prescription assistance, as well as assisting funds for critical research for a cure. Some of that research is even being done in our own backyard at Oregon Health Science University (OHSU).
What is MS, you might ask?
Well we don’t know what causes it- genetic or environmental. But it’s an autoimmune disease that causes damage to the myelin in the central nervous system (CNS) — and to the nerve fibers themselves — interferes with the transmission of nerve signals between the brain and spinal cord and other parts of the body. There are 4 different types of MS: Relapsing Remitting, Secondary Progressive, Primary Progressive and Clinically Isolated Syndrome.
Is there a cure?
Nope, which is why we are raising money for the National MS Society! It’s so crucial because for those with Primary Progressive MS (the most severe form), there is only 1 treatment to slow progression, compared to the 15+ that are available for those with Relapsing Remitting form of MS.
